If you live in Milton Keynes you probably already know one roman road – Watling Street, entering the city at Fenny Stratford and heading north to Stony Stratford. We also know it as the V5.<\/p>\n
You may also know another one – the A421 along Standing Way to the Bottledump Roundabout and then across country to Buckingham.<\/p>\n
Both of these have been recognised by the authorities as being originally based on the route of a roman road although, obviously, you can’t see much of the original because of the modern roads laid on top of them over a couple of thousand years.<\/p>\n
The question is though – can you see ANY part of the original roman roads in and around Milton Keynes or has the development of the New City obliterated any evidence that did exist.<\/p>\n
